Webinar with the Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade introduces business councils to the importance of ADR

Featuring General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) Governor H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, and in partnership with the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC), the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) held a webinar on “The Saudi ADR Industry: Latest Reforms and Developments.” The target audience was 19 Saudi-foreign business councils that operate under GAFT supervision and the auspices of FSC to facilitate business relationships between Saudi Arabia and the countries of the world.

At the beginning of the webinar, the GAFT Governor H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, SCCA Chairman Dr. Walid Bin Sulaiman Abanumay, and the FSC Chairman Mr. Ajlan Bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan each delivered remarks on the role of institutional arbitration and mediation in stimulating the investment environment and facilitating business in Saudi Arabia.

SCCA CEO Dr. Hamed Bin Hassan Merah, who also spoke, highlighted the latest legislative, governmental, and judicial reforms that support the growth of the arbitration and mediation industry and the role that ADR plays in facilitating business access to effective justice and the creation of a commercial environment attractive to local and foreign investments.

The webinar was attended by a broad audience of businesspeople and members of the Saudi-foreign business councils. The councils include representatives of business sectors from Saudi Arabia and 19 other countries with which Saudi Arabia shares special business relationships, and they operate under the supervision and observation of the GAFT.
