The Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) is a not-for-profit arbitral institution that is dedicated to provide parties facing domestic or international disputes an alternative and private option to court litigation. In doing so, the SCCA provides full and complete administrative services based on time-tested rules and procedures following international best practices and standards.

However, we understand that there may be occasions where clients choose to pursue alternative dispute resolution in a non-administered (ad hoc) setting. Yet, parties may find themselves often in a situation where they cannot agree on an arbitrator, or do not know who to seek out as candidates, thereby creating an unwanted impasse to the process. Generally, the only recourse then is to approach the domestic courts, which can create further delay. In addition, courts do often not have access to a pool of qualified candidates from which to choose and appoint.

The SCCA addresses this business need with its Arbitrator Selection & Appointment Services. Parties can authorize the SCCA to perform one of three distinct services to selected and/or appoint one or more arbitrators. First, parties can request the SCCA to provide a list of experienced and qualified candidates from which they can choose their arbitrator (List-only Service). Second, parties can authorize the SCCA to appoint one or more arbitrators using its list method (List-and-Appointment Service). Finally, parties can authorize the SCCA to directly appoint one or more arbitrators without any further intermediary steps (Administrative Appointment Service). These three district products are addressed below in more detail. Please click the respective button for each service below and to download the Infographic, click here.
