The SCCA’s Expedited Procedure Rules address the need for a more streamlined process of arbitration instead of a full-fledged arbitration proceeding – particularly for small to midsize claims. It saves the parties time and money by enabling parties to resolve their dispute in generally less than six months while significantly saving arbitration costs. The SCCA’s Expedited Proceeding is designed for cases where the amount in dispute does not exceed SAR 4,000,000. It automatically applies whenever the parties have agreed to the SCCA Arbitration Rules and the arbitration agreement was concluded on or after 15 October 2018. It shall also apply if the parties have agreed to opt in – irrespective of the amount in dispute or the date of conclusion of the arbitration agreement.
