Apply - Mediators

The Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (the "SCCA") panel of mediators (the “Panel”) is composed of highly regarded professionals from the business and legal communities. Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate strong credentials, have an appropriate level of experience, academic qualification and training in mediation.

 

Qualifications and Conditions

 

  • Mandatory Conditions

The following conditions should be met when applying for membership:

  1. The applicant must successfully complete one of the mediators training programs (for more information about available programs, click here);
  2. The applicant must hold in the highest regard by peers for integrity. He must confirm the absence of criminal record and he has not been found guilty by a disciplinary court or tribunal for misconduct;
  3. The applicant must have at least three years’ experience in business or professional experience in the legal or judicial field or experience in other fields, including engineering, construction, energy, and accounting, among others;
  4. Mediation experience in serving as mediator or in other forms of ADR;
  5. Educational degree(s) and professional license(s) appropriate to the field of expertise.

The following criteria would also be considered:

  1. Honors, awards, and publications indicating leadership in the field of expertise;
  2. Membership in professional association(s);
  3. Language(s) fluency.
  • Applicants that have been appointed as mediators in at least 3 cases administered by the SCCA shall be exempted from the requirement to successfully complete SCCA training programs. The exemption shall apply whether they are appointed by the SCCA or by the parties.
  • Senior experienced international mediators that have served as mediators in at least five cases administered by leading international institutions shall be exempted from all the above-mentioned conditions.

 

Membership Rights and Obligations

  1. Members shall be dedicated to upholding SCCA’s Code of Ethics for Mediators and to devote sufficient time and efforts when selected to serve in cases administered by the SCCA;
  2. Members are committed to participate in continuing education programs pursuant to SCCA Guidelines;
  3. Members shall have the priority to be appointed in cases administered by the SCCA;
  4. Members shall have reduction and priority to participate in SCCA events, as well as receiving SCCA publications;
  5. SCCA reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to admit or to refuse the admission of any person to the Panel;
  6. Panel membership is provisional for one year and shall be renewable automatically, unless the member is notified that his membership will not be renewed;
  7. SCCA also reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to remove any person from the Panel at any time.

 

How do I apply?

The SCCA accepts applications throughout the year. Applications must be submitted using the SCCA Online Application Form (please be prepared to upload any required documents). The SCCA does not charge any application fees.

 

The SCCA reviews applications on an ongoing basis and follows up with Candidates if any relevant information or documents are missing. In case minimum requirements are not satisfied, the SCCA will invite the Candidate to apply again once these are met.

 

Applications that meet the minimum requirements will be reviewed by the SCCA on a quarterly basis as follows:

 

  • The status for applications received between November 14, 2022, and February 26, 2023, will be announced on April 9, 2023.
  • The status for applications received between February 27 to May 21, 2023, will be announced on July 2, 2023.
  • The status for applications received between May 22 to August 21, 2023, will be announced on October 01, 2023.
  • The status for applications received between August 22 to November 19, 2023, will be announced on December 31, 2023

 

What should I upload when applying? 

Applicants should attach the following:

  1. Proof of successful completion of SCCA mediator training program;
  2. Curriculum Vitae, stating experience, education and training in adequate detail. An English version of the CV is preferred. The applicant may submit any academic or experience certificates he wishes to attach.
