Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration “SCCA” held a Webinar, in partnership with the Saudi Ports Authority "Mawani," to introduce the establishments operating in the maritime transport sector to the latest developments in the industry of alternative dispute settlement in Saudi Arabia and to review the institutional arbitration and mediation services provided by the center to settle disputes of business establishments active in the sector.
The Webinar was held under the title "Alternatives to Settlement of Commercial Disputes for the Maritime Transport Sector: Effective Institutional Solutions to Resolve Your Dispute," which was attended by a large number of establishments’ representatives operating in maritime transport activities, such as shipping agents, shipping lines, importers, and others.
The Webinar Speakers: Mr. Yousef Alhosan, VP for Policies and Legislations at Mawani, and Mr. Abdullah Almunif, VP of Commercial Business at Mawani. And Mr. Mosaad Al-Kherb, Business Development and Partnerships Manager at SCCA.
The Webinar addressed a full explanation of the latest legislative, governmental, and judicial reforms that support the growth of the arbitration and mediation industry and the role that these alternatives play in facilitating business access to prompt justice and building an attractive commercial environment for local and foreign investments.
This Webinar comes as a result of the memorandum of understanding signed between SCCA and Mawani last January to activate cooperation between the two parties in providing alternative means for settling disputes that arise between the parties to the contractual relationship in the maritime transport sector, and to enhance the presence of the model settlement clause in its commercial contracts. Facilitating the settlement of disputes that arise between the sector's establishments and the beneficiaries of its services through arbitration or mediation.
