The Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration organized a webinar on “Developments in Arbitration and Mediation in Saudi Arabia, Making ADR work in KSA” yesterday in partnership with the Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Board Chambers (ArbDB Chambers) in London, Singapore, and Dubai. Several arbitrators, mediators, and legal advisers, including both local and international industry experts, participated in the webinar.

Part of the SCCA’s ongoing efforts with the ADR community inside and outside Saudi Arabia, the webinar aimed to highlight progress in the development of the industry’s foundations in Saudi Arabia, the role of decision-makers, and the official efforts to develop pathways for the business sector to achieve justice through ADR.

During the two-session webinar, participants discussed mediation as an ascendant ADR service in Saudi Arabia and the Saudi justice system’s role in enabling mediation as a way to settle a dispute before the parties turn to litigation.

The webinar addressed the efforts the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration has made toward this end. The SCCA has developed up-to-date services based on mediation as an effective alternative for resolving commercial disputes. The webinar also highlighted the complementary role between institutional arbitration and Saudi Arabia’s judicial environment, in which commercial arbitration awards are enforced and become a practical reality in the business sector.

ArbDB Chambers is a professional network encompassing a broad spectrum of arbitrators, mediators, and members of dispute boards. It aims to link international chambers that include members from professional disciplines and jurisdictions from around the world.
