Mediation in Commercial Disputes

3-day intensive course providing lawyers, mediators and other professionals interested in professional development focused on mediation skills development to enhance their knowledge, understanding and skills with a group of their peers taught by experts in the field of international ADR, most notably members of the SCCA and AAA/ICDR International Panel of Trainers and Mediators. The program is specifically designed to provide a comprehensive immersion in the essential skills and knowledge required of all mediators.  Completing the course provides the foundational hours of introductory training for practicing mediators. Through engaging dialogue, interactive exercises and simulated mediations facilitated (with constructive and useful feedback) by a faculty of experienced mediators, Participants will not only acquire vital knowledge about mediation theory, practice and techniques, but also begin developing the skills indispensable to be an effective mediator.

Trainers's Intro:

Richard Naimark        

President of, ICDR, New York. Mr. Naimark participated in the establishment of the ICDR. Mr. Naimark has senior experience in the field of arbitration and ADR. He cooperated and provided technical assistance to various international entities, including United Nation Commission for International Trade Law as well as governments, non-profit organization, academic institutions and private sector.

Mark Appel

Mark Appel is an independent, international Arbitrator, Mediator, Consultant, Trainer and Principal at Appel Dispute Resolution. Mr. Appel has nearly 40 years of global arbitration and mediation experience, having served in both executive and senior executive positions at the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), leaving ICDR/AAA as Senior Vice President, EMEA in December of 2015. An experienced mediator and mediator trainer, Mr. Appel is a founding, now honorary, Director of the International Mediation Institute. He is also Chair of the IMI Investor State Taskforce. Mr. Appel has successfully mediated cases, including complex multi-party cases, in various industries including Construction/Infrastructure, Energy, Technology, Commercial Finance, Joint Venture/Partnership, Real Estate and Equipment Leasing.
