Ciarb Saudi Arabia Branch Launches its Work

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb)’s branch in Saudi Arabia has launched its work. It is expected to bring together Ciarb members and arbitration and alternative dispute resolution practitioners in Saudi Arabia around a single hub for knowledge and communication. The is to enrich the Saudi arbitration, mediation and reconciliation community by fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and forging relationships and collaborations between arbitration practitioners and the public.

 

The launch of the branch follows an agreement concluded between the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and Ciarb during the SCCA 3rd International Conference and Exhibition, the main event of Riyadh International Disputes Week 2024 (RIDW24), held in March. The agreement provides that SCCA will host the Ciarb Saudi Arabia Branch and that the parties will cooperate with regard to its activities. 
 

It is anticipated that the Ciarb Saudi Arabia Branch will organize many knowledge and communication activities aimed at enriching the arbitration and alternative dispute resolution community in Saudi Arabia, enhancing the level of knowledge and practice among practitioners, and creating opportunities for those involved in the industry in various business sectors to meet and forge relationships. 
 

As part of its activities, the branch will hold seminars, panel discussions, lectures, debates, mock arbitration sessions, and numerous social and communication events.
 

The branch is led by a steering committee elected by Ciarb members in Saudi Arabia: Dr. Hamed Merah as Branch Chair, HRH Princess Hala bint Khaled and Eng. Saud Al Ahmadi as Branch Vice Chairs, Mr. Munif Bajamil as Branch Secretary, and Mr. Moath Al Jobairi Ashehri as Branch Treasurer, in addition to Dr. Majed Al Rasheed‬‏, Dr. Ahmed Al Khulaify, Dr. Bader Al Busaies, Mr. Saad Al Mansour, Ms. Rozana AL Tayyar, Mr. Ahmed Bahobeshi, and Mr. Mosaad Al Kherb.
 

The establishment of Ciarb Saudi Arabia Branch emerges from SCCA’s responsibility to provide training and qualification in the commercial arbitration and alternative dispute resolution field such as mediation and reconciliation in Saudi Arabia, propagate the culture of the field, and support research activities in the field as the local and international representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of arbitration. 
 

Ciarb is a prestigious, international, professional organization with more than 100 years old. It is concerned with promoting the knowledge and practice of alternative dispute resolution at the international level through the qualification programs it offers through its branches around the world. Ciarb is supported by a global network of more than 44 branches, with more than 17,500 members in 150 countries around the world that represent Ciarb, support its activities, and promote the use of ADR as an effective means of resolving commercial disputes.
