The Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) highlighted the development of the Saudi arbitration industry as a sponsor of the 25th ICCA Congress in Edinburgh. Over the course of five days in the Scottish capital, more than 1,000 participants attended the ICCA Congress from arbitration centers, law firms, international organizations, and legislative bodies around the world.
The ICCA Congress is the largest international gathering in the commercial arbitration industry. It has convened biennially since the first ICCA Congress in Paris in 1969. The conference aims to attract industry experts and leaders from the countries and continents of the world for the purpose of offering proposals, exchanging views, and presenting scientific papers that contribute to developing the industry and give a look ahead to its future.
The Congress is supervised by the ICCA, an NGO accredited by the United Nations. As a professional, membership-based organization, it brings together commercial arbitration practitioners from around the world and actively contributes to strengthening the regulatory framework promoted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
A delegation of SCCA leaders participated in the ICCA Congress this year, and SCCA was a sponsor of this prestigious international event. It participated in multiple sessions and hosted a booth in the accompanying exhibition in order to convey the development of the commercial arbitration industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the latest achievements in making Saudi Arabia a safe arbitration seat. Attending the event also strengthened the SCCA’s ties to the international industry community within the context of SCCA’s role as the country’s official representative in the field of arbitration on the international stage and the national beacon of the industry locally.
