The Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and the Riyadh Chamber have signed a cooperation agreement to assist the Riyadh Province businesses to resolve commercial disputes, most importantly through the incorporation of the SCCA dispute resolution clause into their contracts, the offering of venues to host SCCA-administered arbitration and mediation sessions, and spreading awareness and knowledge of ADR within the best practices. This agreement is a continuation of SCCA efforts to strengthen outreach to business sectors and activate the role of alternative dispute resolution in facilitating business and attracting and supporting national and foreign investments.

SCCA CEO Dr. Hamed Bin Hassan Merah signed the agreement on behalf of SCCA, while Riyadh Chamber Secretary General Mr. Nasser Bin Othman Abuhaimed represented the Chamber at the signing ceremony at the Riyadh Chamber headquarters.

The cooperation agreement between the two parties provides that SCCA will provide support and guidance on drafting dispute resolution clauses for Chamber members, and the Chamber will host SCCA-administered arbitration and mediation sessions at its premises when desired by the parties to the dispute.

The agreement also provides a channel for cooperation in holding specialized training programs, raising awareness of ADR among Chamber members and businesses in the Riyadh Province, involving SCCA in meetings of relevant delegations and national and foreign businesses, and promoting SCCA activities among Chamber members, and holding joint seminars and workshops.

Commenting on the cooperation between the two parties, Dr. Merah said SCCA is proud of its strategic partnership with the Riyadh Chamber, which will provide a practical framework for serving the province’s business community and assisting Chamber members with institutional ADR solutions the SCCA has developed in accordance with the latest international standards and practices.

Mr. Abuhaimed said the Chamber is doing its utmost to provide high-quality, value-added services to Riyadh Province businesses, and the agreement concluded with SCCA feeds into achieving this goal, thus helping make the Riyadh Chamber the biggest source of confidence for the province’s business community.
