Overview

The SCCA Arbitrator Roster is composed of highly qualified and accomplished professionals from the legal and business communities. Our arbitrators have subject-matter expertise in a particular field and understand the essence of the dispute and the intricacies a given industry brings with it. They also understand the importance of resolving disputes swiftly and efficiently, while preserving due process leading to a fair and just outcome. In addition, they attend ongoing educational events and are committed to honor the SCCA’s Code of Ethics for Arbitrators.

What Are The Minimum Requirements?

Candidates must meet one of the following minimum requirements (subject to change and annual review):

  • He/she is certified as a Chartered Arbitrator (C.Arb) or a Fellow (FCIArb) with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb); or
  • He/she is certified as a Member (MCIArb) with Ciarb and sat as an arbitrator on at least three cases of which one has ended in a reasoned award within the last three years; or
  • He/she sat as an arbitrator on at least five cases of which at least one was administered by an accredited arbitral institution, and he/she has issued at least two awards in the last five years.
NOTE: Meeting the above requirements does not lead to automatic admission. A review process by the SCCA Board of Directors follows that evaluates, among other things, a candidate’s substantial experience in ADR with at least five years of full-time arbitration experience, in particularly as arbitrator, but also as counsel, expert witness, or otherwise. In addition, candidates must be in good standing, have not been found guilty by a court or disciplinary tribunal of misconduct, and be held in the highest regard by peers for integrity.

SCCA and Ciarb offer various courses throughout the year in Saudi Arabia in both Arabic and English. Courses are geared towards obtaining one of the prestigious Ciarb membership grades as a Fellow (FCIArb) or as a Member (MCIArb) to qualify for roster application. More information on the offered courses is available here.
